Ever had the highly unpleasant experience of urgently needing a file, and yet not being able to retrieve it because of a virus, or because you have previously deleted it from your recycle bin? That’s where the software “Recover My Files” come in. Recover My Files enables you to find your files even if a virus has made it corrupt and irretrievable, if your hard drive has been formatted, if you have saved over a particular file, or if you have deleted it forever. Who doesn’t need this safeguard at least once in their lives? Here are some guidelines for using this nifty software:
* Download Recover My Files. You could purchase this software either for standard license ($69.95), for professional license ($99.95) or for technician license ($299.90). You could also download a free trial version at recovermyfiles.com. Simply click on the blue “download” button and follow the simple instructions for downloading. It’s best that you install the program at a drive other than the one where your files have been lost. If you only download this software for free, however, you will only get to preview the lost file; if you want to save it again to your hard drive, you will have to purchase the activation key.
* Know what to expect. Once you’ve downloaded the software to your laptop or PC, you could start to run it. Click on the icon for Recover My Files and you will find a pop-up window that will ask you whether you want to recover files or to recover a drive. Choose the first option if you are just looking for one file; choose the second option if an entire drive letter is missing or is corrupted. Once you have selected the proper option, click on “Next”.
* Know how to recover files. The wizard will run you through the process for recovering your files. You will be asked to search for your missing file through its file name, through a keyword, through the date it was created, or through its extension (.exe, .doc, .jpeg, etc). Once you do find your missing file, again you must have the activation key before you can save the file (you will find a button named “Save Files” at the uppermost portion of the screen). You should save the file in an external device, such as a USB or CD.
* Know how to recover a drive. If you chose to recover a drive, the program will perform a scan to thoroughly detect every device connected to your computer. To let the program perform a more thorough scan, you should choose to have it scan the entire hard disk (this will take a longer time, though). The program will treat the hard disk as an entire block of data; all the missing folders and files detected will be displayed under a single folder. You could stop the search when you find that the program has finally detected the missing files.
There you have it! These are some of the essential guidelines for using “Recover My Files.” Always, however, the best way is to do preventative measures, so you should be vigilant about keeping back-up copies of your most important files, and saving them in external devices. Another way is to upload your files to sites such as sites.google.com so you could access your files even if you don’t have your PC with you.
